Abstract: Given the importance that the banking sector has for any national economy, the prudential regulation and supervision of the banking system is a prerequisite for ensuring economic and financial health of a country. Thus, we presented in the paper issues strengths and weaknesses of supervision, the effects of implementing Basel II and remedies to improve banking supervision.
