Abstract:
The changes that occurred in consumption processes and habits are important in terms of urban space. The places where all these changes can easily be observed are shopping malls. Evolution of shopping malls turned into “consumption cathedrals†from a bit critical point of view, in the last decade. It points to the farthest frontier that we reached in terms of shopping habits as society. In this study, first, the terms consumption, consumption culture, and changes in the consumption culture in social sense are dealt with. Then, along with studying the evolution of shopping centers in Turkey, an analysis of the evolution process of shopping malls, starting from traditional shopping culture up to now, is alyzed within the case of Eskiflehir.
