Abstract: This paper investigates the determinants of household poverty in Turkey using ordered logit model. It also focuses on parallel regression hypothesis and uses generalized ordered logit model. In this study, the data has been obtained from Household Budget Survey in 2009 and poverty levels have been categorized in order to determine the factors affecting different levels of poverty. The findings show that middle class has approached poor classes and the gap between the rich and the middle class has widened.
