Abstract: This article highlights some of the economic issues which should be addressed by academics, policy-makers, industry leaders, and the public, as the Internet penetrates deeper into Brazilian and other societies. Greater understanding of the way the Internet works and how it will work in the future, not only from a technical but also from an economic and social perspective, is now required. This article summarizes the methods, issues and alternative approaches addressed by studies of Internet Economics, which we define as the study of market for Internet services.
