Abstract:
Rousseau offers a reformulation of the concept of economy that can clear the contemporary debate devoted to the relations between ethic and economy. His philosophy allows to define economy according to ethic categories: ethic values and economic values enter in an exchange system; economy aims at prosperity but it is animated by ethic rules and motivations such as compassion or benevolence. Ethic is also understood in a economic way. Rousseau's moral economy is an art of enjoyment which includes both material enjoyment and moral enjoyment.
