Abstract: The aim of the research consists in understanding the management processes occurring within the managerial succession in small and medium family businesses. Knowing that these processes remain closely linked to the behaviors and to the set of values of individuals, the deli-berate orientation given to the research is at first a managerial orientation stemming from the field of management sciences, but also a psychological and sociological orientation. An empirical survey has been carried out on a sample including seven family businesses totalling thirteen personal narratives. The observation of the different practices within the family businesses is its main axis.
