Abstract: (VF)L’objet de ce travail consiste à interroger, d’un point de vue épistémologique et méthodologique, la constitution et l’état actuel du management stratégique. La mise en perspective historique de ces 50 années de recherche fait apparaître des projets de connaissance différents avant que ne s’affirme un projet es-sentiellement explicatif. Celui-ci peine à prendre pleinement en considération les grandes transformations intervenues ces quinze dernières années. Le rapprochement de la recherche et de l’action invite à une ouverture épistémologique.(VA)This paper is the result of a reflexive inquiry into the constitution and the state of the art of strategic management research. The genesis of the field is characterized by different epistemological stages; the « normal science » paradigm which has been well established over these last 15 years is currently challenged by the great transformations of financial capitalism and by the dynamics of globalization. The quest for actionable knowledge suggests the need of different epistemological approaches.
