The transversal structures are hence forward characterized by horizontal coordination, flexibility, information diffusion and polyfunctionality. The present research aims at identifying a typology concrete transversal structures, thanks to an empirical study in five big firms. This analysis shows that transversal structures are not homogeneous but are rather eclectic and of a contingent type.
