Economic value of tradable farmland use rights and mortgage loans in China

H. Holly Wang

Agricultural Finance Review, 2008, vol. 68, issue 2, pages 289-300

Abstract: This paper first discusses the possibility of market-transferable land use rights and mortgage loans in China, and then shows farmers’ welfare gain in the presence of such mortgage loans with a theoretical model. Cases of risks and asymmetric information are studied, and policy implications are drawn.
