The Iranian Oil Bourse: A Threat to Dollar Supremacy?

Robert Looney

Challenge, 2007, vol. 50, issue 2, pages 86-109

Abstract: Contrary to the writings of many political analysts, there are many fronts on which to battle the United States. Iran has considered opening another front by leading an assault on the U.S. dollar. Will it succeed? Our writer thinks it will not, partly because, as of now, the dollar's sources of strength are considerable. But he realizes that the dollar could come under more serious pressure in coming years.
