Macroeconomic Policy Challenges and Choices in a Time of Crises

Allen Sinai

Challenge, 2009, vol. 52, issue 2, pages 5-35

Abstract: Given the enormous risks in the economic outlook, we asked a highly regarded macroeconomist and econometrician to present his view and survey of possible outcomes and also his policy prescriptions. He believes that serious fiscal stimulus is necessary but also finds that the resulting deficits may extract a significant future price. Nothing is certain in this unprecedented and complex environment, but Sinai presents a comprehensive and organized view of how we got here and of potential future events.
