Abstract:
The article quotes the “Giornate Lincee” report in remembrance of Giorgio Fuà, 5-6 October 2006, analysing the socio-political background which saw Giorgio La Malfa drafting his Supplementary Note, which were in turn to lie at the origin of the booklet by Fuà and Sylos Labini, “Ideas for economic planning”. The planning objectives, based upon superseding the sectorial, territorial and social disequilibria, were undermined by political inadequacy and shortcomings of the planners. A comprehensive judgement of the planning carried out must take into consideration an economic and political context very different from the present one: that of a country marked by historical transformations, and at the same time held back by a bureaucratic State characterized by inefficiency.
