ONCE MORE, WITH FEELING: FEMINIST ECONOMICS AND THE ONTOLOGICAL QUESTION

Julie Nelson ()

Feminist Economics, 2003, vol. 9, issue 1, pages 109-118

Abstract: Is it worthwhile for feminist economists to delve into questions about the nature of reality? This essay argues that "feeling" is an aspect of reality that is neglected by both standard and critical-realist approaches to ontology. The author contends that a "process" approach to characterizing the nature of reality is more appropriate and that this approach demarginalizes feminist concerns with emancipation and care.
