Michel-Kerjan is the Managing Director of the Wharton School's Risk Management and Decision Processes Center at the University of Pennsylvania, which for 25 years has been at the forefront of research into extreme events. He is also a Research Associate at the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. In 2008, he was elected chairman of the OECD's Secretary-General High Level Advisory Board on Financial Management of Large-Scale Catastrophes.

Decker is an Associate of the International Security Program/Project on Managing the Atom at the Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University. She also is as an Associate with Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C., advising governments on strategic planning and risk management.
