Abstract:
During recent years Austria has made substantial achievements with respect to the Lisbon Strategy and the associated target of raising R&D to 3 percent of PDG. The country has developed a largely mature National Innovation System. The policies to promote research, technology and innovation have changed significantly during the last 10 to 15 years, coping with numerous changes within the RTI policy system. Key tasks include the institutional and organisational design of public research funding, the design of links between private and public research institutions, the debate and decision making concerning a suitable system of public instruments to promote research and innovation activities, the coordination of RTI policies with other policy fields, etc.
