Abstract:
The main concern of this paper is to investigate the Brazilian sectorial exports as a function of the two variables, that is, Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RCV) and Balance Trade Contribution Index (TBC), from 1997 to 2001, according to cross-sectional and panel-data estimations, in terms of three digits aggregation, following the SITC Classification (Standard International Trade Classification), as well as intensive-factor aggregation standing by Pavitt (1984). We can draw a conclusion, using our panel analysis, that indicates that the Brazilian exports is a positive function of the RCV, but is a negative function of the TBC.
