Abstract: The article discusses the main alterations in the productive structure and in the strategies of industrial location in the metropolis; it analyzes the specificities of the industry and the changes in the industrial structure in the capital and in the other metropolitan cities among 1985/2000. The hypothesis is that there is movement denominated circular duality, in which some segments leave the area and others settle.
