The Collapse of the USSR and International System: Proposal for a Theoritical Solution

Abstract: By the end of the Cold-War period, the international system changed in roots and Central Asia, Caspian Sea Basin and the Caucasus became important issues for politics, strategy, the international system, economy, regional unification, national and world trade, international and regional security and international organizations. The Plans of the USA and the European Union over the region and their bilateral or multilateral relations with regional countries, efforts of Russian and Chinese governments against these relations, efforts of international oil companies to get a share from the projects affects regional and international policies directly and causes them to form a complex environment. Moreover, the dimension of political Islam threatens regional stability and indirectly international peace and security. In this respect, regional developments are important for Turkey, that gains strategically importance from the perspective of historical, cultural and geographical closeness and in the light of what strategic plans the West had made.
