Abstract:
The object of this article is to analyze some highlights of Public Policies for Aborigines in Taiwan. To achieve such aim some particular issues will be considered such as some of their characteristics and historical background, during past domination periods, as well as past and present norms and public policies, from different point of views, mainly since 1987, including constitutional and legal principles, and the question of autonomy. To make the present analysis easier different periods will have been settled according to governments’ general tendency regarding indigenous people public policies, mainly in connection with their general orientation and particular way of making them effective.
