Abstract: On the 24th of August, 2006, Ukraine celebrated the fifteenth anniversary of its independence but not only so: for the first time since parliamentary elections are held, the leaders of political parties signed a far-reaching compromise, the National Unity Pact, which declares “the constant desire to lead Ukraine towards European values and standards that can be achieved through the EU membership, as well as to continue internal reforms".
