Globalization and Employment Relations: a Framework and Agenda for Research in Asia

S. Kuruvilla

Working Papers from Aarhus School of Business - Department of Economics

Abstract: There is considerable disagreement on how one should define globalization, and some disagreement as to whether the world economy is truly global. However, despite the disagreement regarding the definition, there is more agreement regarding globalization's main effects on developing countries. Rather, my focus in this paper is to develop a framework for the analysis of the impact of globalization on employment relations broadly, and then to raise specific questions for research, based on what we know and do not know. The paper concludes with a tentative research paln for further discussion.
