Abstract:
The introduction of supermarkets has rapidly transformed the traditional dairy industry in China. The procurement and distribution networks established by rapidly growing supermarket chains are expanding the market for dairy products from large cities to medium- and small-size cities, as well as into rural areas. By extending the reach of distribution networks, supermarkets are helping create a national market for dairy products. Consequently, increased competition in the dairy processing sector has prompted a wave of consolidation in this in this industry.
