No 281, Apas Papers from Academic Public Administration Studies Archive - APAS

Abstract: Being officially recognized as the Europe's largest natural wetland, the Danube Delta represents a unique habitat for wildlife and biodiversity. Unfortunately, dangerous changes from 19 countries are negatively modifying ecological equilibrium and transforming ecosystems, generating problems of water quality and quantity, the polluting nutrients, organic pollution, industrial accidents, floods and droughts and biodiversity reduction. From 1991 the centre of the reserve was included in "World Natural Heritage Site". Furthermore the Ministry of Environment and Forests from Romania took initiative of promoting social development in the Danube Delta, as a responsibility marketing action
