Abstract: This paper examines the impacts of current global economic crisis on the economy of Bangladesh and evaluates the existing social safety net programmes in Bangladesh with a view to understanding the coverage and effectiveness of the programmes, as these SSNPs could be very important in mitigating the negative effects arising from the ongoing global economic crisis on Bangladesh.
