Abstract:
This paper investigates the dynamics of job tenure in the European Union over the last decade. The analysis shows no generalized decrease in job tenure but a trend towards shorter tenure of young workers (15-24) in most European countries. Our results indicate that lower employment protection provided by law and by trade unions can explain this downward trend. Keywords; job stability, EPL, youth JEL Classification: J21, J41, J88, K31
