Abstract:
The main objectives of the National Workshop on Micro-finance for Infrastructure : Recent Experiences were: to share current experiences that highlight the growing sector of micro-finance in infrastructure; to identify sector gaps, and challenges to effective community infrastructure investments; and, to explore appropriate steps for capacity building, including the imparting of training to micro-finance institutions, and nongovernmental organizations for facilitating access to infrastructure credit. The workshop was divided in five sessions: Sessions two and five were brainstorming sessions, during which the participants discussed developments, and identified sector gaps. Presentations on recent proposed initiatives on micro-credit, and community infrastructure were made during sessions one and three, and, the micro-finance training module was presented during session four.
