Abstract:
The current paper presents several optical approaches used for investigating the decoding of the Voynich Manuscript. Over the past century, there have been numerous decipherment claims, but none of them can be accepted as the true solution. Most of them focus on the syntax analysis of the text, trying to correlate the Voynich text with wellknown languages. In the current paper, we present a short history and description of the manuscript, as well as an innovative technique used for attempting its decoding. Our paper presents the use of several optical approaches, such as various distortions, words and character scrambling, in the attempt of correctly identifying voynichese words with the help of OCR.
