Abstract:
This paper analyzes de Regional Purchasing Power Parity of Food (PPCRA) utilizing the regional food expenses at home from the 1995-96 Brazilian Household Survey (POF) and the National System of Consumer Price Index (SNIPC) from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). For the poor families a specific PPCRA was constructed, considering the population with monthly income not greater than two minimum wages (PPCRA2sm).
