Crise cotonnière, politiques publiques et inégalités spatiales dans le sud du Mali

Jean-Étienne Bidou, Bourema F. Ballo and Isabelle Droy

Mondes en développement, 2013, vol. n° 164, issue 4, 35-56

Abstract: The malian cotton belt is often considered as an homogeneous entity which prosperity or decline only depends on the cotton production. But the South of Mali is a diversified agricultural region where strong public policies, like decentralization, have taken place while the cotton sector was going through a deep crisis. This conjunction results in spatial inequalities and a volatile situation while the sustainability of decentralization policies is no more secured than the cotton development.
