Abstract: En los últimos años, estamos asistiendo a un proceso de liberalización en la industria eléctrica con la finalidad de introducir competencia en dicho sector. Sin embargo una apertura del mercado no implica necesariamente una competencia efectiva y precios competitivos. Las especiales características de esta industria en España hacen que sea más fácil el ejercicio del poder de mercado, por lo que no se producen las esperadas consecuencias sobre los precios. En este contexto, el objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar los efectos de la liberalización de la industria eléctrica española sobre la competencia y el precio de la electricidad a partir de un modelo de maximización de entropía.

In recent years, we are witnessing a process of liberalization in the electricity industry in order to introduce competition into the sector. However market opening does not necessarily imply effective competition and competitive pricing. The special characteristics of this industry in Spain make it easier to exercise market power, so that there are no expected impacts on prices. In this context, the objective of this paper is to analyze the effects of liberalization of the Spanish electricity industry competition and the price of electricity from an entropy maximization model.
