Abstract:
This technical note describes three firm age measures associated with the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey-Insurance Component (MEPS-IC). A continuous and categorical variable are included in the MEPS-IC warehouse (WH) files, and a third categorical age measure is used for tabulations published online by the sponsor. Since 2010, the Center for Economic Studies (CES) has provided a firm age file based on a preliminary version of the Longitudinal Business Database (LBD) to the MEPS-IC program area to assign firm age to the survey’s sample of establishments.
