Abstract:
Open-Source project documentation is the main and initial purpose of wikis, but this is not the main theme of the scientific literature about wikis. We study here the management structure of the documentation of the WordPress community, which is supposed to provide the necessary technical knowledge to use the software and improve it. This is done mainly via a collaborative mailing-list, and not on the wiki itself. We propose to study the structure of the collaboration process via a quantitative and social network study; this shows that structural regularities are necessary to coordinate the work of the volunteers of the community.
