Abstract: We are looking for detailing the main features of the development model of Spain, after its entry into the European Economic Community (EEC) in 1986. The fragilities intrinsic to the model were masked during the period of euphoria, when low interest rates and foreign capital flows have fed into a real estate bubble of the early 2000s. But, have made the country extremely vulnerable to cope with a reversal of these financial conditions, with serious consequences for the majority of the population.
