Abstract:
The present research highlights the crucial role of both product and service design in the appropriation of shared objects by consumers. The research is grounded in the sharing economy and focuses on the carsharing system Autolib in Paris. Results show that when the design combines both product and service, users can appropriate the cars even though these are shared with others.
