Abstract:
This text provides an analysis of digital communities by considering them under a linguistic imaginary paradigm. Considering the issues of digital economy and the scarcity of studies focusing on the symbolic dimensions, our work aims to examine the apparent homogeneity of digital groups. In order to do this, we are using an innovative sociolinguistic analysis of lexical profiles extracted from the presentation texts of digital communities. Our analytical device suggests a segmentation of digital groups in at least two families: (a) digital communities characterized by stability and scientific/technical aims, (b) digital collectives characterized by flexibility and political aims.
