Abstract:
Developed as a public good by the state technocracy of the US military-industrial complex and academic research, GAFAM has benefited from the process of liberalization and commercialization of the Internet. Today's world is particularly characterized by the emergence of a digital economy with increasing returns, in the context of an almost universal worldwide deregulation and a financial concentration that is undoubtedly excessive. GAFAMs have a worrisome power because their technologies are changing thinking methods. Critics abound about their use of financial speculation, the commercial use of private information, the exercise of a technology of domination, the strength of their lobbying that directly or indirectly tries to control and monitor the behaviour of consumers and citizens. They do not support the societal consequences of their actions. States are only beginning to question their power in all areas of society, including elections.
