From recent social psychological researches, it is revealed that power have various influences on human cognition, affect, and behavior. Specifically, a sense of power prompts egocentrism in interpersonal interaction and rash information-processing. In addition, some experiments and surveys report that these effects are moderated by mental representation of power, which mean the portrait of power hold by the individuals. In this paper, these findings about the psychological effects of power on human cognition and behavior are reviewed, and organized into the context of organization studies. It is concluded that a sense of responsibility needs to be fostered for sensible use for power in organizations, because that can bring other-oriented and careful dicision-making in the powerful managers.
