2000-2009 Population Growth in the Midwest: Urban and Rural Dimensions

Abstract: This report examines the rural-urban dimensions of recent population change across a 12-state region that includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Using annual population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the report examines patterns of population growth and decline by county type from 2000 to 2009.
