La division du travail au sein d'un organe de presse: modes et usages des formes d'emploi

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to make an original presentation of a cultural institution, describing division of labour force in journalism. Indeed work organisation in newspaper companies is based on a repartition of tasks between pigistes -freelance journalists- and the wage-earners. The well-balanced management of the Press is granted by a choice between division and coordination of labour among both categories. The use of pigiste journalists -should it be made compulsory by employers' strategies or a need of the profession- shows new transformations in employment relationships. It appears that pigistes account for a paradoxical market which renews the dualism in labour market theory initiated by Piore and Doeringer
