INDICADORES DEL SECTOR MYPE INFORMAL EN EL PERÚ: VALOR AGREGADO, POTENCIAL EXPORTADOR, CAPACIDAD DE FORMALIZARSE Y REQUERIMIENTOS DE NORMAS TÉCNICAS PERUANAS DE SUS PRODUCTOS

Mario Tello

No 2011-310, Documentos de Trabajo / Working Papers from Departamento de Economía - Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú

Abstract: Based upon the National Survey of Households of 2008 (INEI-ENAHO, 2009), this paper estimates a set of indicators of the microenterprises of the informal sector or Peru. This set shows, on the one hand, the importance of these firms in terms of employment generation and their potential contribution to the domestic and exportable output. On the other hand, it describes the productive features, barriers to formalization and their product bundle that requires the use of technical norms to be able to compete in exports markets. The analysis of this set of indicator suggests that formalization policy is not sufficient to promote the development and the inclusion of these firms to the formal productive apparatus of the economy.
