Abstract: The author studies the system of wellbalanced characteristics as a tool for analyzing activity of higher educational establishments, its nature and components – groups of characteristics: financial, consumers of educational services, process of education, potential for further development. The author points out the factors affecting the effective activity of an educational establishment.
