Abstract: This paper compares two models of emotional development that stand out among the multitude of existing ones with special attention to the mechanism of transition from earlier forms of emotions to more mature ones with the appearance of the representation of emotional content. M. Kholodinsky's model of interiorization proposes to interpret emotional development by analogy with Vygotsky's approach to the development of thinking and inner speech. The model of socio-biological feedback in emotional development by D. Gergey and J. Watson is based on the analysis of the perception of coherence in infancy. Our analysis showed both common features and differences between approaches.
