Abstract:
Job satisfaction refers to an employee’s general attitude towards his or her job. It is the attitudinal factor which indicates that extent to which the employees like their jobs (Spector,1997). In today’s contemporary era, due to up gradation of global or worldwide competition, efficient personnel’sbecomes challenge for the employers. Therefore, an employer’s utmost accountability is to retention of their efficient and skilled personnel and this can be accomplished by making and keeping their efficient employees satisfied, motivated and committed towards their personal as well as organizational goals.Personnel’s job satisfaction and employee retention are closely related to each other. Nowadays, job satisfaction and employee retention becomes cardinal consideration and concentration in the organizations because they both share a positive relation with job performance and organizational effectiveness. This paper focuses on determinants& significance of job satisfaction and employee retention& its significance. This paper also focuses on the relationship between job satisfaction and employee retention and strategic initiatives for enhancing job satisfaction and employee retention.
