Multivariate evaluation of the presence of Ecuadorian universities in global rankings

Abstract: The study examines the dynamics of Ecuadorian universities in global rankings, focusing on ARWU and THE. Using a multivariate approach, it analyzes the evolution of these institutions over the last five years to identify those in global rankings. Dynamic Biplot analysis shows the trajectory of Ecuadorian universities, illustrating their positions concerning different indicators. The results reveal that only a small percentage of Ecuadorian universities, including Universidad San Francisco de Quito, achieve international ranking. The study underscores the need for effective strategies to enhance Ecuadorian universities' international visibility and competitiveness, calling for a re-evaluation of internationalization policies and academic practices to improve their global presence and recognition.
