Abstract: This study examines the economic development of Bulgaria over the medium term. A comparison is made with 2008, which preceded the Global Financial and Economic Crisis. The Bulgarian economy is also analyzed in a comparative manner with the other 12 Central and Eastern European countries, which represent the last wave of EU enlargement. The Bulgarian economy slows down its growth rate, there is a lag behind the average for other countries, with the main factors of growth unfavorable. There is no adequate economic policy to address structural problems.
