Abstract:
This paper concerns the problems that local education system faces, reform measures proposed in the Education Sector Strategy 2020, and author’s suggestions on issues underappreciated or overlooked such as: a necessity of correlating the educational policy with that of eradicating poverty; prerequisites for applying credit system to access education, measures of forming scientific and innovation culture among schoolchildren and students, creation of strategic alliances between higher education establishments and research environment, changes in the organization of scientific research in higher education establishments, etc. All these changes are driven by the worsening of Moldova’s position in the world rankings by the Knowledge Economy Index (KEI).
