Abstract: The phenomenon of unemployment in the Iraqi economy is exacerbated for various reasons, which leads to worsening the problem of poverty. Economic crisis that has beset the global economy forcing governments to resort to austerity policies and weak private sector initiatives have further reduced job opportunities. Previous global experience proves that micro-enterprises reduce unemployment and alleviate poverty. However, the experience of funding small and medium enterprises is still new in the Iraqi economy. In this background, this paper attempts to study the way the financing of small and medium enterprises operates in Iraq; how effective it is and what challenges it is facing. تتفاقم ظاهرة البطالة في الاقتصاد العراقي لأسباب شتى، الأمر الذي يؤدي إلى تعميق مشكلة الفقر. وفي ظل الأزمات العالمية التي تعصف بالاقتصاد العالمي ولجوء الحكومات إلى اتباع سياسات تقشفية وضعف مبادرة القطاع الخاص، مما يؤدي إلى تقليص الفرص الممنوحة للتشغيل الجديد. اثبتت التجربة العالمية، أن تجربة المشاريع المتناهية الصغر تحد من ظاهرة البطالة، وتخفف وطأة الفقر، إلا أن تمويل وتجربة هذه المشاريع لازالت حديثة على الساحة العراقية، مما يحتم بحثها والنظر في تطويرها. يهدف هذا البحث إلى دراسة واقع التمويل الإسلامي في العراق وإبراز التحديات التي تجابهه، ولأجل ذلك تم عرض صيغ التمويل الإسلامية وكيفية تطبيقها لتمويل المشروعات المتناهية الصغر والتركيز على واقع التمويل الإسلامي الأصغر في العراق.
