Abstract: With the development of information technology, artificial intelligence, and robots, capitalism has increasingly assumed a form of platform capitalism which is ‘reconceptualizing our economy’ to the extent that it is ‘forcing us to rethink economics’. Capitalism and various institutions controlled by this system have been the subject of criticism in the past and need was expressed to reform them. But today it has become most obvious that there is need for ‘replacing it with a more caring and provisioning sustainable system’. The steps taken by the 28 European Union countries regarding General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are commendable. It is recommended that Muslim countries should adopt similar regulations for the protection of the data of their citizens as it is in full conformity with the Quranic teaching of privacy preservation. مع التطور المتسارع لتكنولوجيا المعلومات والعلوم الخاصة بالذكاء الاصطناعي، سعت الرأسمالية على دعم منصات جمع البيانات بغرض الاستفادة المادية المجردة من أي اعتبارات إنسانية، وكذلك الضغط نحو إعادة التفكير في علم الاقتصاد نفسه من خلال سيطرة هذه المنصات على بيانات المتعاملين وبالتالي على مفاصل الاقتصاد. إن الرأسمالية والعديد من المؤسسات مسيطر عليها من قبل "نظام" يتحكم في مفاصل الاقتصاد العالمي، فحاليا هناك حاجة أكثر إلحاحا من ذي قبل نحو التغيير و المطالبة باستبدال النظام الرأسمالي الحالي بنظام آخر أكثر إيجابية واهتماما واستدامة. إن الخطوة الإيجابية التي أقدمت عليها 28 دولة من دول الاتحاد الأوروبي، الخاصة بتفعيل نظام حماية البيانات العامة GDPR للأفراد داخل الاتحاد الأوروبي، والذي يمنع تداول البيانات العامة الشخصية بين الشركات الرأسمالية الكبرى، وهو ما نتمنى على دول العالم الإسلامي فرض نظام حماية مشابه يحمي أفراد المجتمع في هذه الشركات ومن التلاعب بخصوصية بياناتها.
