Abstract:
The Ottomans resorted to price fixation with a view to ensuring stability in the market. Islamic law does allow price fixation in special cir circumstances. Ottoman monetary and commercial policies were also directed towards price stability and security. Guided by the Islamic principles. a number of institutional arrangements contributed to the welfare of the people by preventing fraud, hoarding and monopolistic practices.
