Abstract: Pentraxin 3 (PTX3) is an acute-phase protein that is structurally similar to C-reactive protein (CRP). Macrophages, endothelial cells, and adipocytes all produce PTX3 in response to inflammatory stimuli, but hepatocytes are the main source of CRP.
